WHERE CAN I FIND THE QR CODE FOR PAIRING?

AYO has three different QR codes in total:

1) Pairing QR code - This QR code is used for pairing your AYO wearable with your phone through the AYO app. The pairing QR code can be found either below the AYO case, on the AYO packaging, or on one of the last pages of the AYO user manual, which comes with your AYO packaging.

NB! In case you experience any difficulties pairing your AYO, please also try to type the AYO Serial Number manually in the app - it should be something like AA0123. You can find the Serial Number sticker next to the pairing QR code.

To learn more about pairing your AYO, feel free to visit this page.

2) iOS app QR code - This QR code is used for downloading the iOS AYO app. You can find this QR code on the outside of the AYO packaging. Alternatively, you can download the iOS AYO app by searching it on the App store. The name of the app is goAYO.

3) Android app QR code -  This code is used for downloading the Android AYO app. This QR code can be found also on the AYO packaging, just next to the iOS QR code. Alternatively, you can also download the Android AYO app on the Google Play with the name goAYO.

Be careful when scanning one of the two QR codes for the AYO app as they are positioned close to each other on the AYO box and you can select the wrong one.

HOW TO PAIR MY AYO WEARABLE WITH THE AYO APP

After installing the free goAYO app, the app will ask you to turn on the Bluetooth of your smartphone as well as to allow receiving notifications from the app. Please enable both! Then you’ll be asked to sign up (or log in if you already have an existing account). Click on the SIGN UP button to register your email address and create your AYO user profile.

Please ensure you have a stable Internet / Wi-Fi connection on your device, as it is necessary for the
successful pairing. When pairing your AYO with an Android device the app would require from you to enable location services. Please note that we do not use any of that data – this is just a requirement for the seamless Bluetooth communication.

Make sure to have your Pairing QR code at hand! You can find your pairing QR code (a sticker) at the bottom of your AYO case, on the outside of the AYO packaging, and on the last page of your printed user manual.

To proceed with the pairing follow the steps below:

  1. The AYO wearable must be turned on. To turn on the AYO wearable, open its arms (unfold the wearable)

  2. Check how many times the wearable blinks.

    • If it blinks 3 times, continue with the pairing process.

    • If it blinks 5 times, the battery is not sufficiently charged.

  3. Once you have sufficient battery in your AYO wearable, you can proceed with the pairing.

  4. In the AYO app, click on the button Scan QR Code or enter the Serial Number. Either scan the serial number QR code or enter the code manually and follow the instructions on the app.

  5. Your will receive a confirmation message on the AYO app about a successful pairing.

Once you have successfully paired your AYO with your mobile device, open the AYO wearable (open its arms) and put it on your head.

Please note that your smartphone should have BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) compatibility.
Important! Please check your Internet and Bluetooth connections on your phone before pairing.

HOW DO I WEAR MY AYO CORRECTLY?

Please check the figure below to ensure correct positioning of your AYO wearable on your head. If you need to make the nosepiece wider or narrower so that it fits better on your face, just bend its two corners with your fingers. Don’t worry - the flexible nosepiece can be bended back.

AYO should be used with open eyes. We have designed AYO and AYO's light diffusion system in a way that it is very gentle and usually does not distract the user in any way - so the user can continue most of his/her daily routine seamlessly (e.g. working on the laptop, reading a book, cooking, etc.)

Using AYO with closed eyes will practically have no effect whatsoever since the human eyelids usually block more than 95% of the light, minimizing the effect of AYO.

Wearing AYO with prescription glasses / lenses

Please note that AYO is designed to be able to be used with the most common prescription glasses' frames. To learn more on wearing AYO with prescription glasses, please check this article.

CAN I WEAR AYO WITH MY GLASSES/LENSES?

AYO wearable is designed to be able to be used with the most common prescription glasses' frames. However, for optimal experience, we recommend using AYO without prescription glasses as the glasses can interfere with the light diffusion of AYO.

AYO can be also used with prescription and tinted eye lenses.

How to position AYO wearable with prescription glasses:

  1. Bend the flexible nosepiece horizontally. Don’t worry - the flexible nosepiece can be returned to its normal position.

  2. Put AYO wearable on top of your prescription glasses (see figure below).

PLEASE NOTE: For best results, try to use AYO without prescription glasses

SHOULD I WEAR AYO WITH MY EYES OPEN, OR CLOSED?

AYO should be used with open eyes. We have designed AYO and AYO's light diffusion system in a way that it is very gentle and usually does not distract the user in any way - so the user can continue most of his/her daily routine seamlessly (e.g. working on the laptop, reading a book, cooking, etc.)

Using AYO with closed eyes will practically have no effect whatsoever since the human eyelids usually block more than 95% of the light, minimizing the effect of AYO.

AYO's light and AYO's light diffusion system in general has been carefully tested and is fully certified for photobiological safety by the world renowned independent certification body TUV. You can read more on the effect of blue light in this article.

HOW CHARGED IS MY AYO WHEN I RECEIVE IT?

AYO has two batteries - one in the AYO case and one in the AYO wearable. When you receive your AYO package, the AYO case will have barely any battery left or none, but the wearable comes charged better. While the wearable comes pre-charged to ensure optimal experience, charging both the case and the wearable before the first use is recommended. To learn more about AYO's two batteries and how to charge them, please check this article.

Charging before initial use

  • Before initial use we recommend charging the AYO case with the AYO wearable inside for about 6 hours.

  • Insert the AYO wearable into its case, laying it flat on its frame inside the case and the prism pointing upwards. To ensure a proper charging position, make sure the wearable fits snugly inside and it stays completely flat.

  • Connect the micro USB cable with the AYO case on one side and with your laptop or external power adapter on the other side.

CAN MY AYO BE USED BY ANOTHER FAMILY MEMBER OR FRIEND?

Imagine you and your partner have one AYO wearable and both of your would like to use it separately. Yes, it's possible to use one AYO wearable by more than one user!

Here is what you both need to do:

  1. Create a separate user account for each user / smartphone. You can do that via the free AYO app, see App section for further details on the app.

  2. Pair your AYO wearable with each of the smartphones / user accounts. For details on pairing, please read this article.

You are all set!

HOW CAN I ADJUST THE LIGHT INTENSITY OF MY AYO?

AYO provides three light intensity levels: low, medium and high. You can select the desired light intensity from the AYO app under the Settings menu. Greater light intensity reduces the time it takes to receive the maximum benefit from AYO, but choose the light intensity level that feels most comfortable and suits you best.

Put the AYO wearable on your head. Make sure AYO is properly positioned on your head by adjusting the flexible nosepiece if needed. To select or adjust the light intensity level follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Settings' menu in the AYO app.

  2. Select the highest comfortable level of light intensity. Choose from one of the three light intensity levels: low, medium or high.

  3. Confirm the light intensity level of your choice.

  • You can also change the light intensity level at any time (via the Settings menu in the AYO app).

  • You can also change the light intensity while using the AYO wearable, and it will adjust the session duration accordingly.

IMPORTANT: In order to be able to select the light intensity level, your AYO wearable must be turned on - arms must be open or AYO must be on your head.

WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF BLUE LIGHT ON OUR WELL-BEING?

Light is important not only for our vision but also for our general well-being. It helps us manage our sleep/wake cycles and our overall biological rhythm. We need light in the morning to tell our body to “wake up” and we need darkness in the evening to prepare ourselves to fall asleep. Most people enjoy a higher energy level during a bright, sunny day and experience a good night’s sleep afterwards.

Today’s lifestyles often misalign the human body clock, which may lead to challenges including low energy levels, discomfort and lack of productivity and concentration. Furthermore, in countries with short winter days, many people might be experiencing lack of energy and low mood due to the lack of sunlight.

Numerous clinical studies in the past 15+ years have shown that blue light can play a very important role in the management of our body rhythm. Blue light also help us adapt to our fast-changing and dynamic lifestyle, full of frequent traveling, irregular sleep and working predominantly in an office environment with insufficient outdoor light.

AYO helps in delivering the essential blue light, similar to the one we see in sunny summer days whenever you need it!

AYO delivers blue light gently to the eye following your personal preferences and lifestyle. After using our innovative technology in as little as 20 minutes per day, AYO can help you manage your biological rhythm for better and more productive lives!

WHAT IS THE CAP SENSOR FOR?

The capacitive (CAP) sensor helps to recognize if a person is wearing AYO or not. From user's perspective, that can allow you, during a session, to pause the AYO session automatically and to continue with the session just by removing the AYO wearable from your head and then putting it back on your head.

For example, if you are in the midst of a session and you need to take the AYO wearable off for a few minutes and then put it back on, when you take it off the lights will go off automatically. And when you put it back on, the lights will turn on automatically. So if you'd like to try out this functionality to see if it is something that makes the AYO usage for you more convenient, feel free to go to the goAYO app -> Settings -> CAP sensor -> turn it "on".
